Hello! We are Jana and Chris McDonald, owners of Term Brokers Insurance, and we have combined insurance careers of more than 25 years. We've worked for corporate “mega-companies” who, in the end, didn’t stand by their policy holders (in fact, some are now barred from doing business in Florida — you all know the stories), and we've worked for small, local agencies in our hometown of Duluth, Minnesota, too. In 2004, we moved to sunny Florida with the hopes of finding a niche in the familiar territory of insurance.
Shortly after arriving and seeing the dramatic economic changes, our philosophy changed. No longer were we going to “sell” insurance; instead we found an opportunity to “offer” Florida homeowners, business-people and individuals security, protection, peace of mind, and financial vigor, which has become our Corporate Mission Statement.
Our knowledge of and expertise in the insurance industry has made it possible for us to create the fastest growing and most highly acclaimed insurance brokerage enterprise covering the 16 counties of the Florida panhandle.
The many awards and accolades we've received since Term Brokers’ inception have not changed or altered our corporate mandate “to strengthen the economy of northwest Florida by offering the very best insurance coverage at unbeatable prices.”
As you can see to the right in this updated family picture, our family has grown over the last few years. Just as our family has grown, Term Brokers Insurance Services also has grown to include thousands of policies covering homeowners, flood, health, life, commercial, and auto insurance. Term Brokers is now one of the largest and most diversified insurance companies in the Florida panhandle!
Along with our four children, we enjoy our lives in Florida. In fact, it was the best move of our lives. Our children are heavily involved in community events, activities, and sports programs.
Michael McDonald is a licensed insurance agent! He's fluent Spanish and is going to school to be an accountant and teacher. Michael loves to study the bible. He also loves the Destin area, the beautiful beaches and, of course, surfing.
Gabriel McDonald is a licensed insurance agent and is working part-time in the Ft. Walton Beach office doing account management and client audits while attending college in Pensacola.
I was born in Illinois and was a military brat growing up. I have lived in Texas, Virginia, England, and finally found my home in Florida when my dad was stationed at Eglin Air Force Base about 20 years ago. I graduated from Niceville High School in 1998 and soon began working for ResortQuest. While at ResortQuest, I held many different positions, my final one being Group Sales Manager. It was through my employment there that I realized how much I enjoyed assisting and working with people.
After my employment with ResortQuest I spent the summer volunteering at PAWS Animal Shelter and began working for Term Brokers Insurance in August 2010. I obtained my CSR 4-40 license in September 2010 and have enjoyed learning a new career.
When not at Term Brokers, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our family, and friends.
I was born in Manchester, England and raised in Vancouver, Canada. I moved down to the sun from northern Edmonton, Alberta, Canada with my husband and children and has enjoyed the warmth ever since.
I spent many years working full-time as an accountant in Canada, but upon moving to Florida I decided to stay at home for a few years with my busy girls. An incredibly active family life keeps me busy with volunteering at all sorts of events that my teenaged daughters are involved in. When I can relax, I enjoy spending time at home with my family.
Missing the interaction of work after a few years, I returned on a part-time basis in an administrative capacity. I joined the Term Brokers team in 2009 taking on ever-increasing administrative work as the company continues to grow. I enjoy the fast-paced environment of Term Brokers' busy insurance office and keeping up with the variety of tasks on a day-to-day basis.
I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and was raised there for the first decade of my life before my family relocated to Florida to be closer to our relatives. I attended J.W. Mitchell High School in New Port Richey, Florida, graduating magna cum laude in 2005. I was offered an academic scholarship from the University of South Florida and went on to obtain a bachelor's degree in finance. Throughout college I worked in the booming construction industry around Tampa Bay and as a server at Carrabbas Italian Grill before going to work for Allstate during my senior year.
At Allstate, I first became licensed as a 4-40 customer service representative and, realizing the intricacies of Florida's insurance market, went on to obtain a 2-20 general agent license. I enjoy working with customers to find the best coverage at the most affordable price and helping them to understand their policy.
Outside of work I enjoy running, working out, and am an avid fisherman.
I was born and raised in the Florida Panhandle and have always enjoyed the variety of activities the area has to offer. After graduating from Niceville High School in 1998, I worked in hospitality and other tourist dependent companies. For the last 10 years I have worked as a data clerk and permitting specialist for a local archeological company. Although I truly enjoyed my position there I had recently been looking for a new career where I could provide a needed service to positively impact prospective customers.
I eagerly accepted my position here at Term Brokers Insurance in hopes of using my past experience while learning a new career.
I'm looking forward to the new challenges and the opportunity to provide an outstanding service for the Term Brokers team.
I have an 11-year-old son who just started his first year of middle school. We enjoy spending our free time with friends and family, at the beach, on the water, or doing anything outdoors.
I was born and raised in Florida. This is my home! I graduated from Niceville High School and, in addition to working at Term Brokers, I am a student at the University of West Florida and will shortly receive an associate’s degree. I will continue my studies, working toward a degree in engineering.
I am married to Michael McDonald and we are expecting our first child in June 2014. I look forward to serving all in the Florida Panhandle as a certified Insurance Agent and am excited about serving our community in Niceville further. I expect to make an important impact of the highest quality customer service to those we serve at Term Brokers.
